Sunday FAQs
Considering a visit to the Gathering? Here are a few FAQs you might find helpful.
1. What can I expect on a Sunday morning?
There are two services at the Gathering: 9:30 am (experiential service – Pastor Rachel), 10:45 am (experiential & casual – in the fellowship hall- Pastor Rachel ), and 11:00 am (traditional – Pastor Vickie). Nursery & Children’s Sunday School are offered at all services.
2. What should I wear?
Wear whatever you’re comfortable in (the pastor wears jeans and sandals).
3. What about my kids?
There’s a great kids’ program at the Gathering at Scott Memorial UMC. We have a nursery for infants, a preschool room for 2-5 year olds and a Sunday School class for 1st-5th graders that they go to after the children’s sermon. Our workers have background checks and are trained to take excellent care of your kids. We also have pagers for parents that will buzz or text you with information.
4. Will I have to stand up and introduce myself?
Absolutely not! We want you to feel as comfortable as possible during your time at The Gathering the Gathering at Scott Memorial UMC.
5. What if I want to join or want to know more about baptism?
That’s great! Click here and we’ll email you the date of the next new member orientation. Rachel would love to meet personally with anyone who’s considering baptism.
6. How do I join a small group?
Just show up:) If you’d like more information on a particular group, just email us at office@thegatheringumcvb.com and we’ll answer any questions you might have.
